Daughter Update

Ruby has learned what the American flag is and exclaims "Mom! Goodnighted Steaks of America!" when she sees one waving.

Nora gets 90% of her nutrition from raisins these days. She is obsessed with them. If you have them anywhere in your house...she'll find them.

Ruby LOVES school and learning and her love language is sitting down and doing her schoolwork with her.

Nora clicks her tongue walking around the house because it feels cool.

Ruby is the best sharer ever. She shares and shares and gives. When we say "Ruby, let Nora have a drink of that please" she often will say "she can have it all" and gives her the whole thing.

Nora....not the best sharer. Working on that.

Ruby finds her way into our bed every.single.night these days.

So does Nora. It's getting pretty crammed in our queen bed.

Ruby talks and talks and talks and asks questions and sings to herself all day long.

Nora, not much of a talker right now, watches and takes it all in. Except when she's reading herself a book. Then there's all sorts of talking.

Ruby is obsessed with TV and movie-watching. If we let her, she would watch it all day long. I, however, think it's a brain killer and imagination sucker. So I've just completely turned the TV off all day long recently and I'm shocked with the results. The girls play together, they invent, and play chase, and giggle and get out books they haven't touched in months. It's wonderful.

Nora is also obsessed with homemade popcorn. She gets like a tigress mother protecting her cubs with fury, except, it's not her cubs, it's the popcorn bowl that she needs to share with the rest of the family.

Ruby thinks that the darker you are, the more fun you've had. Let me explain- last summer, I was telling Ruby that I love when she and Nora are tan because it means we've played and played outside in the sun and it means we've had so much fun. I said something along the lines of "the darker you are, the more fun your summer has been!" and it stuck. We were watching the Cosby Show and let's just say her little brain was like "oh-my-gosh. Those people have the BEST SUMMERS EVER!"

Nora is our sweetest cuddler so far. She lays her head on your chest and shoulder and curls up in your arms and it's one of my favorite things about Motherhood.

Ruby LOVES to be tickled. Like....loves it. It's so fun.

Nora has the greatest laugh on earth. It's fast and deep and hearty. She laughs sooo hard when you get her going.

Both girls love to get dressed, and then they immediately run out to find Kevin to show him. Ruby shy-ly tucks her head down and lifts her shoulders and smiles and acts dainty while he expresses his delight. Nora's chest fills with pride and gets big as she presents herself like "this feels amazing. I look awesome."

Ruby is pretty rational and can be calmed with just a few short words, but sometimes she works herself up so bad. Her lips turn purple and she looses it, crying so hard. Usually tired-ness and bedtime are involved in these moments.

Nora does the strongest, most pronounced pouty-lips and downward eyebrows to express her displeasure. A lot. All day. It's just as cute as it is funny.

Nora's changed the most since the last we saw her live. Sounds like they are having a blast growing up under your care.
