nora's backyard birthday bash

We had so, so, SO much fun celebrating Nora's first birthday. Kevin and I had talked and daydreamed about a backyard evening party with strung lights and tiki torches and blankets laid out and all the people we love eating and laughing and hanging out in the same spot and that's exactly how it turned out.

These outfits! My sister Shannon sewed them from old t-shirts of Kevin's and her husband Danny's. They are so stinkin cute and oozing with love and personal touches!

The reading tent was a big hit!
We had big poster painting and bubbles, too, but I didn't get pictures because I was enjoying the party too much!

All of our family and friends pitched in so much. Thank you to EVERYONE! I didn't make any of this food. They just asked what I needed/wanted and they did it. We have the best friends and family.

ONE YEAR OLD!!!

Nanny and PJ, the great-grandmas!

Angela and River, Nora's cousin that was born a few days before her!

I just love this picture. Because it shows what our lives look like right now. A lot of work. Going and working hard and taking care of little ones and all that we've been give to be responsible over. Sometimes we just say "Team Kiehn" to one another with a smile because we are busting it and cleaning up and packing bags and feeding mouths and changing diapers and giving baths and just pass each other during it all. We really are a team. It's a busy and hectic and tiring season but it's also flippin FUN. So much sweetness and joy that totally outweighs the difficulties.

Aunt Molly whoopin' everyone in charades

Aunt Lori's legs really deserve an entire post of their own, but I figured I'd at least feature them on here...

This was the vision we'd had all along, watching a movie on a projector in our back yard. It was perfect! Soooo, so fun. Kevin put together a "first-year" video of Nora with pictures and videos to music and we all watched it. It was just wonderful. (Afterwards we watched Little Rascals :) )

John is always popular with the kids

Nora, you are amazing. You are spirited, spunky, hilarious, smart, and sweet. You have been a huge and necessary addition to this family. Just you being you has allowed us and caused us to grow in leaps and bounds.
We love you forever and ever, our little Nora Pie!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE :)
