Birthday Takeover

Right off the bat I'm gonna let you know this is not Jessica.  Although you would have figured that out in just a few lines cause I'm not near as witty and will not have near as many jokes in parentheses like she does (or maybe this keyboard has some funny residue left over).  No, this is Kevin.

Today is Jessica's Birthday!  So I wanted to take the time and write a post about the woman that is more important to me than anything else in this world.

A lot of you that read this blog probably didn't know us growing up and weren't privy to the intimate details of our teenage years.  So my first brag on my wife is that she is the only person that would have gone through everything she went through to keep us together.  Anyone else would have jumped ship and paddled for shore within a day of boarding.  Not to say our lives were terrible we just didn't know who we were and if you don't know who you are, you don't know how to relate to the ones you love.  But praise Yahweh we did find out who we were and thats when our eyes were opened to how truly blessed we were to have each other.

When I met Jessica she was wearing jeans, a thrift store t-shirt and a bandana on her head aunt jamima style.  For some reason that didn't deter me :-) and I was hooked, immediately.  Unfortunately so were all of my friends.  I think there were literally Three other guys that were "hooked"  the moment I was.  So ensued a process of jockeying for position trying to get jessica to notice us.  One was very conversational and that had me concerned cause I wasn't the best with words, another was very funny and had Jessica rolling and that had me even more concerned cause I couldn't sell a joke to the popsicle stick people.  So I had to bring out the big guns right out of the gate.  I sat down at the piano and played the best song I knew, and prayed to God that I didn't mess up.  It was cheesy but after it was all said and done they dubbed me "Mr. President" cause I apparently won the "race" for the girl.

I know you can tell just by reading this blog why she had guys flocking to her everywhere she went.  Those reasons don't escape me even after we've been married.  I know what I have and I'd be a fool not to reflect on the gift that I've been given.  So Jess I love you more than they have words in the english language to express.  I have enjoyed every moment I've known you and its hard to grasp the awesomeness of getting to know you for every moment that I have left.  You are an amazing wife, mother, and friend.  Happy birthday sweetheart, I Love You.

p.s.  I wrote this song and I know that's starting to become not a big deal because I've written several songs about you but I'm pretty fond of this one.  It's kind of long so buckle in haha.

I Love You

We met on a sunday
at the church you used to attend
it was a chance meeting, or was it
right then and there
I had a feeling that you could
but now I know it
You've got my heart for good

We fell in love
only like two kids could
but we were young fools
and we broke all the rules
lots of trips and falls
but through it all I found that
You've got my heart for good

And I never thought I'd find
a love like this, in my lifetime
it makes me calm and crazy at the same time
I love you, I love you, I love you

We were married on a saturday
in front of our family and friends
on that day heaven and earth came together
I caught your smile
as we walked back down the isle
and yeah I knew it
you've got my heart for good

You gave birth on a sunday
2:44 p.m.
I know words become flesh
I've seen it
while you were pregnant
I had a feeling that she could
but now I know it
she's got my heart for good
she's got your heart for good
she's got our hearts for good

And I never thought I'd find
a love like this, in my lifetime
it makes me calm and crazy at the same time
I love you, I love you, I love you

If our future was a color
it would be gold
and I will be here till the beautiful end
believe it
and when we're old and gray
I'll turn to you and say
you know what
you've got my heart for good
you've got my heart for good
you've got my heart for good

And I never thought I'd find
a love like this, in my lifetime
it makes me calm and crazy at the same time

I love you, I love you, I love you

Jessica, I knew you growing up and I'm not surprised how great you are turning out. Cannot believe it has been (XX) years since Tennessee. And now that I know you've learned all you'll ever learn from doing it youself...yes, I'll help you clean your room. Any time, darling.

This is the most genuine, heart felt thing I have ever read. What a blessing to have a man that not only feels that way about you, but can express it so beautifully. Ummm...Kevin, will you marry me?
Haha!

Happy Birthday, girl. I love you!!!
