Baby Fever

Oh gosh...I've got it. Bad. I think about it everyday.
I wonder if I am pregnant.
I wonder when it's time for us to get pregnant.
I wonder what life will be like with two little ones so close.
I wonder where we'd put the next one in our sweet little 2 bedroom 1 bath house.

Last night I stayed up late looking at this, to help my baby fever.

Do you think this helped my condition? Absolutely not!

I so look forward to being pregnant again. To eat more nutritiously, to exercise more. The second (and third, and fourth...) time around you just know more. I like that a lot. I also can't wait to birth another child of mine. Best thing on earth.

*sigh*....I will wait. I figure it'll go something like this:
1. Like with Ruby, we will both have a knowing that it's time to start trying.
2. I will be late, and take a pregnancy test, gasp, pause, probably tear up, and then squeal/scream with joy.

We shall see...

Sunday, July 24, 2011

So I was nursing Ruby last Sunday, and just sitting there rocking and as she was falling asleep the Holy Spirit asked me "could you go a whole week without reading all those blogs you spend so much time looking at? Are you actually able to slow down and HEAR ME when your eyes are glued to the computer screen? What are you teaching Ruby?"

I don't know why it's such a source of temptation for me, the internet. It's just mankind's Adamic nature, to be entertained. To be fed knowledge and information. To be doing something at all times. Silence is deafening sometimes, and sometimes...that's what we need. We need spiritual, life-changing revelation, not information.

So I did it. I didn't blog or read other people's blogs for a week. Anytime my Father prompts me to do something, I do it. Every time. Because why would I want to miss out on something He has for me?

I had more energy. I got together with more people. I prayed in the spirit more. I wrote a new song. My house stayed cleaner, and there was a beautiful flow to the order of our home. Because I chose to obey, and I chose to stop being entertained and I chose to press into my Father and know and hear His heart and what HE had for me this week.

I'm not buying into this world anymore.
I am perfectly fine being out of the loop.
What's the loop anyway?
Yahweh's people are called to be set apart, to be different.
I can't, and won't, waste anymore time on the things that simply do not matter. They all fade away.

Does this mean I'll never write another blog post? Heck no! I love sharing with my close ones what Ruby and our family is up to.
It's just a positional change that I'm making. Making a choice to not let the entertaining, "promising", self-gratifying things of this world be a part of me. I don't need man's approval. I don't need to turn to the internet to see what other people are doing with their lives when Yahweh has EVERYTHING to show me and my family about our lives and the loved ones around us.

I love the simple life.
You really have to choose it, I'm learning.
And as for me and my house...we will always serve the Lord. Not the world.

Supplementing

Do you supplement? I know for a fact that I do not eat my daily need of vitamins and nutrients in my food alone. Some nights I lay down and think about what I put in my body that day and realize it's all breads and sugars. So vitamins are a must and a staple in our house.

Sometimes all I have to take is a daily vitamin, like the Life Essence (which is like a super power-vitamin that has sooo much greens and super foods in it) and then sometimes I have others to take with it.

Right now I take
Michaels' Skin Factors- to clear my skin up. My friend gave it to me, her Dad is Dr. Shipman at Ozark Herb & Spice and I mentioned one time how blech my face is and she brought it to me! So I'm not necessarily sold on it, but I'm taking it for now because why not?

Advocare Catalyst- Ok, I love this stuff. It's amino acids to protect your muscles when you are exercising. When you work out, your body pulls AA out of your muscles for energy and recouping. This supplies your body the AA's so it doesn't take it from your muscles, so your muscles get to stay lean and strong because they're not getting their amino acids taken from them!

Solor Ray Total Cleanse- I asked Dr. Shipman why I. am. so. exhausted. and he tested me and said "let's put you on a total body cleanse" He said it's been about a year since I had Ruby and that's the perfect time to do a full body cleanse and to get anything out that doesn't need to be in there that may be weighing me down.( I don't know how everything gets out because I haven't been pottying or pooping any different than normal?)

Pure Labs Life Essence- Daily multivitamin that is just amazing.

I'm looking into getting Ruby tested for what she needs/lacks because I KNOW toddlers don't get all the nutrients they need from their little snacks. I can grind it up and add it to her smoothies and she'll looove it. Many vitamins and herbs come in liquid form, too.

So what about you, do you take any supplements? Do you swear by any? Or do you try to eat all your vitamins via nutrient dense food?

Ruby The Food Lover

I am always on the hunt for good, wholesome, real food for Ruby and our family to eat. But that usually always involves actually cooking or making something and sometimes a Momma just wants quick and easy and doesn't want to mess up pots and dishes just for a snack.

The other day I found Beanitos at Ozark Herb & Spice.
THEY ARE WONDERFUL! Chips made entirely out of black beans. They have pinto bean and flax seed chips as well but they are way crunchier and harder on baby's tiny teeth and mouth.

(nut thins are also a favorite around here)

Ruby also reeeeally loves tuna salad.

And the ever popular, now major staple in the Kiehn household...the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.
Washed down with milk in a sippy cup.
Is life awesome, or what?

Pet Peeves

I am always interested in pet peeves. I know that it's a completely negative subject, but it's just funny and interesting to hear what irks people.

So in that vein of thought...here are mine:

PERFUME!! I haaaaate strong perfume. It gets my blood boiling when a woman or man with GOBS of cologne/perfume on holds my baby, and literally hurts my stomach when they stand too close to me. I just feel like "why did you ruin your experience with EVERY person you come into contact with today with that awful smell?" You know, just because YOU think it smells good doesn't mean that everyone else will! It's the equivalent to B.O...a very strong odor that ruins your experience with a person. Seriously. And it actually hurts my stomach. It's just bad. Just keep yourself clean and wear deodorant and you shouldn't need nauseating perfume/cologne!  (p.s. This of course is the AMOUNT you wear. I think if you spray it in front of you, one spray, then walk into it...it'd be fine. Subtle but effective.) This is a serious pet peeve.

HAIR IN MY FACE. My hair is very rarely in a beautiful, flowing hairstyle because the practicality of it is that means hair "flowing" right in my face, in my eyes and I just can't stand that. I need to see, please.

Clutter and Sudden Heat. If a room is starting to get messy and hot together I burst like a firework. I just can't take it. I think most people feel this way, but you have your calm Kevins out there that stay steady no matter what.

Loud TV going in the background. Turn it down! You can't have a conversation with humans if the stupid Pine Sol commercial is blaring in the back. I don't get why some family's make the TV on non-stop a staple. Annoying.

And that is all the whining I will do today.

What are some of your pet peeves? Poking? Bad breath? Bad drivers?

Branson Trip (AKA a billion self-portraits)

I finally got our pictures uploaded from the trip!
It was so, so fun to get away and as much as I dearly missed our Ruby girl...it was so nice to enjoy the other adult's company and getting to hear someone's full sentence and look into their eyes while they talked instead of act like I'm listening but really looking at my fast little toddler darting out into a crowd of people. Most of my conversations with people these days have to go like

"yes, uh. Oh, yeah...(looking at Ruby as she waves and smiles and runs away)..uh huh...I'm sorry just a second..." and off I go to get her.

Anyways here we go!

On our second day there, I actually got everyone to get up and run at 7:00! I was so pumped that they all did. Me and Kev are the young pups. Everyone else is mid to late thirties all the way up to fifties. So it's kind of a running joke that we are young and peppy about exercise when the older guys aren't AS on board as we are:) But the fact of the matter is they know it's right and it's best to do it so it's kinda like ughhh ok we'll run with you on vacation! It was only 2 miles and not everyone quite finished so don't be TOO impressed...
Neither one of us are huge Hog fans but somehow we ended up wearing this. I guess if you live in Arkansas you own Razorback apparel whether you want to or not.

Off to the pool for an after run dip!

Being grown ups...
thanks for the bathing suit KB!

aaaaand nobody can spell our name right...

 Out to dinner...

The trip was SO fun. I laid out by the pool...all by myself...for and hour and a half...nobody asking anything of me. It felt weird and wonderful!

One of the trip's big highlights though?
The night Kev's parents brought Ruby to Branson on the way to Chicago and we were reunited with our little sugar booger.

We had so much fun and are so beyond thankful for the people we are joined to spiritually. They truly are a family to us and look forward to ministering with these men and women for the rest of our lives. Yahweh is so good and so faithful!

Peanut Butter & Company

Have you all seen/tasted this stuff?
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter!!!!!
They've sold it in health food stores for a while but now Walmart carries it!
They have white chocolate, too.
And samples for $.60 ish cents if you want to try it before you buy it but, seriously?
Do you really need to make sure you like the taste of chocolate and pb mixed into one heavenly spread?

I've had WAY too many pieces of toast with this on it and glasses of milk to count.

go get some!

p.s. I am not sure why Apple is one of the most advanced companies in the world, yet they haven't nailed the whole flip-the-picture-so-it-shows-up-right on their laptops thing...
