What We've Been Up To Lately

I'm still cute when I'm sad...

...and cute when I'm glad.

I just started liking my swing! Mommy appreciates this, although I don't stay in for too long.

I started rolling over this month! I am great at it. Once I got that one darn arm out of the way from under me it was a breeze!

We went to the drive-in movies for my first time! Mom teared up at Toy Story 3...

Daddy LOVES movies and says I'll be his "movie watching partner" since Mom normally wants to fold laundry or do dishes during a movie.

I just turned 4 months old, and just keep getting bigger and stronger and cuter by the minute!

Family.
The most wonderful concept I could ever think or imagine.

Kevin and I are in a season right now where we are really having to make great efforts to slow down and spend time together. With him working 2 jobs, and our extracurricular activities with our church, his spare time is rare, which has it's effect on Ruby and I (we miss him!) But through great prayer and discussion and building one another up, we know it's going to be just fine. We have to remind ourselves to be stewards over our day, not owners. When we take it out of Yahweh's hand with a "I have to get it done, I don't have any other choice" attitude, we completely take away the Father's chance to bless us.
So here's to letting go of figuring it out, not letting our emotions get the best of us, and to standing tall in knowing that He works out all things for the good of those who love Him.
And boy, do we love Him.

Sorry blog readers...I have been SO BUSY!
Our little girl is growing up so fast and needing me more and more. And during her veeeeery short naptimes I am cramming in cleaning the house, washing, folding, and putting away laundry, picking up after/taking care of the dogs, organizing the chaos, unloading and loading the dishwasher, making this to-do list and that to-do list, sometimes showering, and sometime in there I have to find something to eat. So needless to say, I have very little downtime right now and I don't always spend it creating fun and interesting blog posts anymore! Sorry!
Perhaps they will come back one day...

Oh Ruby, I love you.

Monday, June 7, 2010

I want to write a little dedication to my beloved Camelbak water bottle. I highly recommend getting something like this for everyone in your family. (They have little kid sizes, too!) Take this thing with you everywhere you go and you'll be drinking so much water, and flushing toxins and other unnecessaries out of your system all day! There are other good re-usable water bottles out there like
Just make sure your water bottles are BPA free, which your Aquafina one-time use bottles are NOT! Bottled water is so expensive and wasteful! You can even take this in to places like Subway or wherever you serve up your own drinks and refill this instead of using another plastic cup (or worse-styrofoam!) for water.

One day, I would love to get a reverse osmosis filter installed in our house. Wouldn't that be awesome?! Completely pure, bleach and fluoride free water? It is slightly discouraging when you're making it a point to drink water only, or drink great amounts of it, only to find out all the bad things that are in city water!
But hey...it's better than Diet Coke.

Drink up!

Ruby's First Trampoline Experience

Some babies may, but mine does not like it. Her sweet little bottom lip pouted out and her tiny short arms jutted out in terror. Sweet girl...we'll just stick to the pool!

I can't wait to do this again.
(no, I'm not pregnant. I just came across this picture and remembered how much I love pregnancy!)

I typically don't write anything too deep on here because it's the internet. That's weird for me. Some people are guilty of being more "open" and "themselves" online than in real life, and that's a sad, sad thing.
But lately there's been a tapping in my spirit to go beyond the shallow surface. Again...within borders. I am so not one to "Dear Diary" this thing.
But the most recent revelation I have gotten is this: I have got to stop looking around on the internet so much.
I find myself on blog after blog, looking at women and their seemingly perfect lives, finding traits in them that I desire for myself and then I spend the rest of my day with their words and images racing through my mind, leading me to comparing my life with theirs. Have you ever been perfectly satisfied, proud actually, of let's say, the decor in your home? You love it. Then some friends of yours have you over for dinner and you see their house and all of the sudden you start seeing things in your home you want changed? Let me just tell you...that's not right.

I have had such an awesome, peaceful time with my heavenly Father today. Asking for Him to show me who I am. What that means. Oh, I know who I am in Him. I know my big purpose here on the earth. But what, for me, does that look like? I'll tell you one thing...it doesn't look like anybody else's purpose. His plan for me is going to be unique and one of a kind, and it's a colossal waste of time for me to try to find it in somebody or something else.

So I encourage you. Shut the TV off. Step away from the computer. Close the magazines. Spend time with your family and with your Father and find out who you are. I guarantee you it's better than what you've been looking for.

I Did It!

Yes, little ole me.
RAN tonight.

Sure, it was only 1/4 of a mile.
Walk 1/2 a mile.
Then ran another 1/4 mile
=
1 mile!

But still...the point is we did that after dinner instead of went to Kupcakes and that, if you ask me, deserves a blog post.

You May Call Me Tiger

This weekend we went to Gator Golf to celebrate Kevin's Dad's birthday. He's like 53 or something and looks like he MAYBE just turned 40.

My Mother-In-Law willing to do whatever it takes to make the shot.
I used to win all sorts of games and competitions when I was pregnant. The power of Ruby girl...
My sister-in-law Lori. Wouldn't mind if Ruby inherits those legs.

Immediately following a HOLE IN ONE!
