Goodbye My Love

So apparently it is time for me to officially leave dairy behind and move on with my life. I used to be slightly lactose intolerant, but due to my severe affection towards ice cream and milkshakes I said "screw it!" and pressed on through the pain/diarrhea/nausea that it brought on. Well...it's back with a vengence. Everytime I have ANYTHING dairy lately...the worst pain ever. And you know what? I KNOW Ruby doesn't need it. She's been spitting up pretty regularly and I'm almost positive it's due to that.
Goodbye McDonald's Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
Goodbye my beloved Ice Cream
Goodbye Andy's Frozen Custard
It's been a really good run, but we're through now.

Oh girl!!!! Sorry to hear that. My husband, Chase, is lactose intolerant, but he loves dairy so much that he just takes 1-2 Lactaid before eating it. If he doesn't....bad news! Some of my friends at work that have an allergy drink Coconut milk at least in coffee and it's delicious! Good luck! Your Ruby girl is precious!

I feel your pain. I am lactose intolerant, as well. I have switched to lactose free milk and it seems to be great. I know at some health food stores they make lactose-free ice cream (or atleast I have heard they do) I haven't actually bought any. I have ice cream every now and again, and it seems to be ok, if I don't have too much. Now, a shake is way out of the question at a restaurant. I will be so sick, if I have a nice hot fudge shake from Braum's. It just isn't worth it. Sorry you have to say goodbye to yummies. Maybe you can find an alternative. :)

Ahhhh, I'm sorry you have to say goodbye. But you are taking it with a good attitude! I didn't even know you were lactose intolerant at all. Don't worry, you can still eat the 2 most important foods: Hot Tamales and Diet Coke.

Ive been lactose intolerant my whole life...i drank Lactaid for most of my life, that i can remember. The only time i can stomach dairy products is when i'm pregnant, which is a good thing because i go through a gallon of vitamin D milk (thats what i crave) in 3 days. But seriously, Lactaid tastes just like 2% milk. Maybe a little thin...but even my mom who's NOT lactose intolerant would drink it. (a litttttle pricey, but worth it to keep milk!!!)

You are a much stronger woman then I. I could not live without ice cream!

This is so weird that you just posted this as a nutritionist I work with wants me to cut out dairy completely...which I am hesitant on because I have already cut out the gluten and now she wants dairy and corn. I decided I am going to do both as much as I can, but I will not completely eliminate because eating corn and dairy don't make me feel sick. I have already tried some almond milk, but have yet to try the vegan cheese. Any tips you have would be great. By the way, wanted to wish you a Happy First Mother's Day on facebook, but realized I can't pull up your wall on facebook...so happy First Mother's Day (or at least the first one with Ruby out of the womb since the conception date was probably around Mother's Days last year). :)
